Before I started my studies at the university I had several experiences that showed me little aspects of the academical field. Firstly, when I was coursing my last two years in school I got the chance to take part of a summer school course organized by Universidad de Chile. The course was about metabolism and nutrition, and we could have access to the university facilities such as the laboratories and library. Taking part of this experience definitely gave me a look of how the university life was and worked and it approached me to the biological studies. One year later I decided to take a course in the same summer school, this time not of biological studies, but of history. Before the course finished we had to write a publishable article about a period of the history of Chile, which doubtless helped me to get to know what we would be doing in the future as university students.
